BEC was awarded the contract by FMG for the electrical design, supply, installation and site commisioning for three of its indexer Laser Gap Spotting System (LGAP). FMG operates three full automated train unloaders at its Anderson Point Ore Handling Facilty. The BEC system utilises laser scanning technology to accurately located the position of the gap between two ore cars in order for the indexer arm to be inserted and move the wagons into the unloading cells.

The BEC system was installed, commisioned and fully operational in a single scheduled maintaince shutdown and has resulted in the elimination of operational delays associated with previous gap spotting systems and techniques.
