Principal Electrical Engineer

About the Role:

Reporting to the Managing Director, this is an excellent opportunity to be part of a well-established but growing engineering consultancy and contribute to its success from a technical, commercial and leadership role.

Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Define and propose electrical engineering solutions to our clients, including bid preparation and review.
  • Manage electrical engineering project requirements and oversee execution.
  • Participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports and review and monitor projects to ensure customers requirements are met on time and within budget.
  • Provide direction during procurement, construction, and commissioning activities and oversee requisitions, technical bid evaluations and purchase order preparation.
  • Manage a team of engineers on specific projects to include defining project requirements, assign tasks and supervise progress.
  • Keep up to date with the latest developments and technical innovations in electrical engineering for our target industry.
  • Communicate effectively with the electrical engineering team and project stakeholders, including clients and preferred vendors.
  • Identify issues and problems and coordinate appropriate solutions.

Essential Skills:

  • Extensive technical and practical experience in electrical engineering for the mining, minerals processing and materials handling sectors, with the ability to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to our clients.
  • Previous experience in a consulting capacity in client-facing roles.
  • Advanced communication skills with the ability to formulate and propose solutions to complex problems both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent knowledge of the fundamental requirements of electrical engineering, applicable local and international standards, and statutory and regulatory specifications.

Formal Requirements:

  • A recognized electrical engineering degree.
  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications in engineering; management, project management or supervisory qualifications or equivalent is desirable.
  • Professional registration or working towards Chartered credential is desired.
  • Australian residency or possession of a valid visa with work entitlement in Australia.
