BEC Engineering is a well-established Electrical, Power and Control Systems Engineering Services consultancy located in Burswood.
With nearly 30 years in the industry, we provide electrical engineering consultancy for mining, materials handling, utilities and infrastructure projects.
About the Role:
This role will form part of the core Control Systems and Automation team providing specialised consulting in control system and control system network design for mineral processing applications.
Working closely with the clients, the role will provide detailed control system design. This will include developing specifications from P&IDs and design documentation, establishing PLC network design using a variety of architectures.
Programming PLC, HMI and SCADA will be a critical responsibility, as will program device interfaces with communication protocols (Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, Profibus, Profinet, EthernetIP).
You will be responsible for conducting software simulations, bench testing and FAT testing. Control System engineers will also work with commissioning and fault finding and diagnostics of operational systems.
About You
You will have recognised Electrical Engineering qualifications majoring in Automation or Control Systems.
You will have at least 3 years post-graduation experience in automation / control systems engineering design in mineral processing sector. Experience should have been gained with a consulting or engineering firm, however experience with an operator can be considered.
Experience with control system design is essential, as is programming PLC, HMI and SCADA. Experience with Schneider, Rockwell or GE PLCs hardware and CITEC SCADA is preferred.
While design and programs skills are essential, you will also be comfortable with testing and commissioning both in the office and on site. Comfortable working independently or as part of a team throughout a commissioning period on-site and handling client liaison will be essential.
A positive can-do attitude and approach to trouble shooting is essential, as is the ability communicate effectively with clients, equipment vendors, contracting engineers and colleagues.
