The role will form part of the core professional group and will be key to building the overall capability of the project and operations team.

The position will be responsible for the successful and efficient delivery of engineering projects in the mining and mineral processing sectors.

Key Responsibilities will include

• Manage engineering, project, commissioning or installation teams to deliver projects according to schedule, budget and scope.
• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams (electrical, structural, civil, controls, etc.), comprising both internal personnel and external subcontractors.
• Facilitate design reviews, HAZOPs, constructability reviews, and risk assessments.
• Oversee quality control throughout project life cycle to ensure compliance to project objectives and deliverables.
• Managing liaison and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders including clients, engineering teams, subcontractors and vendors.
• Financial responsibilities including monitoring actual vs. budget, invoicing and procurement.

About you

As a seasoned project engineer, it is expected that you would meet the following;

• Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from a recognised institution.
• Project Management qualifications highly regarded.
• Minimum of 8 years experience in project management of mining or mineral processing related industries.
• Experience as an Electrical Engineer (Design, Site) with a consulting engineering firm would be beneficial.
• Solid track record in client and vendor management.
• Excellent communication skills are essential.
• Solid financial management skills including budgeting and cost control.

As a key member of the Electrical Design and Drafting team you will play an important role in delivering professional electrical design for our engineering teams.

The role involves the provision of electrical design and drafting support for projects spanning, power system design (power poles, substations), E&I design (MCC, Switchboards) and Control system design.

Working directly with engineers, the position will collaborate on design improvements, modifications and revisions.  Key will be ensuring design and drafting quality is maintained.

About You

To thrive in this position, you will bring solid experience in electrical design and drafting, having worked on projects associated mineral processing or mining applications

With more than 5 years working as an electrical designer, you will be experienced with both AutoCAD and MicroStation with the ability to design on both platforms according to client requirements and standards.

A sound client services mind-set you will be comfortable working under time constraints and working with the engineering teams to ensure on-time delivery of project designs and drawings.

Technically you should have experience developing single line diagrams, schematic diagrams and termination diagrams.  Experience with the electrical design of substations, power poles and power lines would be an advantage.

The role will form part of the core professional group and will contribute strongly to the overall electrical and instrumentation design capability of the team.  The position is project focused to provide engineering design for the mining, minerals processing and utility sectors.

Depending on the project, the scope of work can vary from higher level design to undertaking detailed design for small and large projects.  With projects in the mineral processing or materials handling space, they could include small plant up-grades, new MCC’s and Switchboards, to an entire processing facility.

Responsible for the whole project, you will not only look after design, but also oversee FAT and SAT testing and commissioning.

About You:

With between 3 – 10 years post-graduation experience, we expect the capability to take on a variety of roles within a project from the design and planning stages right through to finalisation and delivery.

Electrical Engineering qualifications from a recognised tertiary institutions is a minimum, while post graduate qualifications would be an advantage.  Professional recognition from a recognised authority would be a plus.

Experience should have been gained in a consulting environment and include a track record in mineral processing or material handling projects.

Being responsible for the delivery of mineral processing or material handling projects including design (MCC, Switchboards, Schematics, terminations) and design deliverables including cable schedules, equipment specifications, equipment and instrument lists is a given.

Depending on seniority, project tendering, budgeting and equipment evaluation would be preferred.

The ability to work independently with minimal supervision on smaller projects is preferred, however the capacity to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team on larger projects will be essential.

While BEC Engineering is a consulting firm, site and field experience would be preferred, and a willingness to undertake site visits and participate in on-site commissioning is a requirement.

About the Role

Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager, this role forms part of the core professional consulting group and will contribute strongly to the overall design capability of the team.

Your responsibilities will include :

• Lead the detailed engineering design of projects including the supervision and direction of engineering staff and designers.
• Client-focused with the ability to identify opportunities, propose and win project work, and oversee the execution and delivery of these project works.
• Oversee and review design deliverables including cable schedules, equipment lists, instrument lists, single lines, schematics, termination diagrams, 3D model designs etc.
• Equipment specification, selection and procurement.
• Scoping electrical manufacturer and installation works and providing support and direction to contractors.

Key Requirements
